Molding tomorrow's gamers today.
This site is to provide information about children's events at supported gaming conventions. The children's events will include board games, light war games and possibly role playing.
The kids convention is designed with activites for children from age 7 to 12. There is a lot of variation in the maturity of children in this age group so the kid's con will be divided into two events in each time slot, one event loosely intended for children aged 7, 8 and 9 and the other event is targeted for kids 10, 11 and 12.
There are two goals for our kid's conventions:
1). Have fun!
2). Get younger children involved in gaming to build our hobby.
The Kids Con at Fields of Honor is going to be cut back to a Kid's Corner this year, there will be activities for kids in the 6 to 12 year old range, however there will not be a full time volunteer in the area. The kids corner will be in full view of the main game floor with easy access to bathrooms and parents.
The Kidscon will return to Rock-Con in 2008 with an open gaming format bringing back the games the kids want to play. Included in the line up will be the most popular games from last year, including 'Heroscape', 'Battlemasters' and 'Starwars Epic Duels'. Other games will be on hand and the kids of the Saturday 'Kidocracy' are encouraged to bring and share their favorite games with others. The Kidscon will run on Saturday the 25th in slots 2 and 3 (from 9am to 1pm and then from 2pm until 6pm). The Kidscon will take place on the main gaming floor with easy access to parents and other adult helpers, there will be a break for lunch between slots 3 and 4, so please makes sure your child has a snack or money to get one!
